2024 insurance!

It is a new year, which means that insurance policies are being updated and changed. Please make sure your current insurance information is on file with the office and that your Wisconsin Medicaid status is up to date if applicable.

It is important to note that if your insurance has not been updated by you, that may indicate that there is a billing issue and you may be liable.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office. A front and back photo of your insurance card is required, which can be sent to our encrypted and secure email address:

Will I owe a copay at the time of my appointment?

When your insurance is verified with Alay we will notify you if you will have a copay. If you do not pay it before the time of your appointment you will be billed that copay. It is also up to you, as the patient to check on your deductible and be aware of it when renews. Alma also will email you a bill for your copay that you pay directly through them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Telehealth or Telepsychiatry?

Telehealth is the use of communication technologies, such as computers and mobile devices, to access health care. Using real-time audio and videoconferencing, nurse practitioners and their patients can meet “face to face” without being physically located in the same place. Sometimes telehealth is used to connect one nurse practitioner’s office to another nurse’s office. In our clinic, we provide video appointments directly to patients. As a result, individuals can then get the care they need from the comfort of home.

What is a Telehealth appointment like?

The telehealth user experience is similar to video chats on other common platforms like Skype, Ringcentral Meetings, FaceTime, or Zoom. The structure of a video-based appointment session is nearly identical to that of an in-person appointment. But, rather than being in a nurse practitioner’s office, you can attend your appointment in a place that’s convenient and comfortable. As with any online service, technical imperfections do occur from time to time (e.g., video may lag or audio may cut out). This doesn’t happen often with fast internet connections, though. Please be patient with your first appointment and also ask for help as soon as possible if you do incur technical issues.

How do I know if telehealth is right for me?

If you’re feeling unsure about telehealth, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll happily walk you through the basics of a video appointment.

What equipment do I need for telehealth?

We recommend accessing your telehealth video appointments from a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet. Your device must have a working webcam, microphone, and speakers/headphones. You will need to have downloaded the app. Zoom or Ringcentral meetings before your appointment. For help setting up your device’s for your appointment, please go to our “Help” page by clicking here.

Do you prescribe medications?

Alay Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications.

How will I know my insurance will cover my appointment?

Your insurance will be verified by Alay staff before you even have your first appointment. If your insurance will not cover a Telehealth appointment with Alay, we will let you know once we contact your insurance company.

Do you offer therapy or counseling?

Alay does not currently offer therapy/counseling.
